9.0. Determining the Rating Average for a Title Result (norm)
9.1 |
In round-robin tournaments, the rating average for title purposes is determined before the start of the tournament. |

9.2 |
In a Swiss, Scheveningen or Team Tournament, the rating average for title purposes is determined once all a players' opponents are established. A candidate then considers himself and all his opponents as a round-robin tournament for this purpose. |

9.21 |
In the case of applications for any Grandmaster title, a player may indicate that an apparently inadequate result (according to the Category Results Chart) is good if it fulfils the Performance Results requirement (i.e. 2600+ performance for GM, 2450+ for IM, 2400+ for WGM and 2250+ for WIM (GA '98)). In respect of this calculation, a player may choose to include or exclude himself from the calculation of the tournament average. (GA '95). |

10.0. Regulations Regarding Title Results and the award of a Title
10.1 |
GM results in tournaments with fewer than three individual GMs are not valid. |

WGM results in tournaments with fewer than three of the following are not valid: GMs, IMs, WGMs or players rated 2300 or over. |

IM results in tournaments with fewer than three IMs or two GMs are not valid. |

WIM results in tournaments with fewer than three WIMs or two of the following are not valid: GMs, IMs, WGMs, or players rated 2300 or over. |

At least one title result shall be based on a round robin or an Olympiad. Otherwise, the title application shall be based on at least 30 games. |
